While coordinating events throughout the summer gave me a taste of what my job entails, I am excited to see what the school year brings. Although I am excited, I am also extremely nervous. The summer events were manageable as there were less and not as many people went to them. However, last year some of our events had over 100 people attend. The size of some of the events we did last year is a little bit daunting. There are a lot of miscellaneous tasks I must do that I constantly forget. For example, checking the event cancellation form. This task is extremely important as it will notify those who are on the waiting list that they have moved up. I have caught myself forgetting to check the event cancellation form multiple times this summer. To prevent this from happening during the school year, I will set up reminders on my phone to check the event cancellation form periodically before an event. Since our goal is to have an event every weekend, I will have to be constantly checking the form. Luckily, I have a partner to help me out with these tasks. We have each other to remind the other about these things. Once during the summer I made a minor mistake that could have gone very wrong. I accidentally put the wrong address for an event that we regularly attend. The events are typically held at the same two parks. Due to habit, I automatically put the address of one of the parks that the event is usually held at. However, it was the wrong park. Thankfully, the parks were within walking distance of each other. When I found out about this mistake, it really disappointed me. It was such a simple mistake that caused not only the project coordinator confusion but our members as well. I am extremely thankful that it did not go anymore worse than what happened. I really hope that I do not make a mistake like that during the school year when it would affect a lot more people. While I am very nervous for the school year, I am proud of the things I have done in preparation for the school year. My partner and I have split up the month where I have the even months and he has the odd months. For October, I have an event for every weekend and even some during the week. I’m excited to find more events and create opportunities for our members to volunteer. Comments are closed.
