Key Club is an international student organization that focuses on community service by teaching leadership. Participating in this club also benefits communication skills as well. With this thought, members learn to actually improve themselves as we continue to build our school and community.
What are the requirements to stay in Key Club?
You are required to complete 20 physical hours and 10 nonphysical hours each semester.
How do I get hours?
It's easy: sign up for events and attend them. Cy-Ridge Key Club volunteers at various venues such as nursing homes, marathons, school events, festivals, fundraisers, and more! All events will be posted on our group's Facebook page. Make sure you have your post notifications on so you can sign up as soon as the Project Coordinators post events! Some events have waitlists, so it's best if you're one of the first to sign up to ensure you have a spot. Sign in at the event with the officers and your secretary will add your volunteering hours onto the hours log. These hours can be used to meet volunteer hour requirements for National Honor Society, Student Council, etc.
Physical Hours
Physical hours are earned through volunteering at events that are hosted by Cypress Ridge Key Club. Events will be posted on our Facebook Page, and all members are provided with an equal number of total physical hours per semester.
Non-Physical Hours
Non-Physical hours are earned through donations, participation in fundraisers, and attending meetings. Participation in bake sales, restaurant fundraisers, completing the Interactive Puzzles in monthly newsletters, March of Dimes, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, Governor's project, etc. and meeting attendance falls under the Non-Physical Hours criteria.
What does probation mean?
You are on probation if you did not meet both the physical and nonphysical hour requirements for the fall semester (i.e. only having 10 physical hours). You will have a probation period in which you can make up your hours. However, if you are unable to make up those hours, you will be dismissed from the club.
Who do I contact regarding my hours?
Contact your secretaries! They are responsible for managing the hour sheets. You can contact them at [email protected] or go on our "Contact Us" page.
